forgive me for being pretty,
because i'm always going to be a slut.

forgive me for being ugly,
well, no matter how little i wear,
i'll never be beautiful enough.

forgive me for being skinny,
because i'm fragile and weak.

forgive me for being fat,
well, no matter what i've been through
i'll never be able to speak.

forgive me for being strong,
because no one will even let me fight.

forgive me for being weak,
well, no matter how much you yell at me,
i'll never be right.

forgive me for loving a man,
because i'll never be under attack.

forgive me for loving a woman,
well, no matter what i love,
i'll never be loved back.

forgive me for being educated,
because i can't have power.

forgive me for being ignorant,
because i was giving birth during school hours.

forgive me for being a feminist,
because i have no right to speak.

forgive me for fighting for equality,
because my voice is dainty and weak.

forgive me for being a daughter,
because i don't deserve an education.

forgive me for being a mother,
because i wanted to have children.

forgive me for being a woman,
because that's all i've ever been.

forgive me for being a human,
because that's all i want to be.
i don't think that all men are against women. i'm not that type of feminist, that's not feminism at all. i believe in equality, because many Americans are ignorant about what's going on in the world around them. Well, guess what. If you don't believe in words, I'll give you numbers.

51 million primary school aged children aren't in school. 31 million of those people are girls. 774 million adults, people fifteen years or older, are illiterate. Two thirds of that 774 are women.

Before you face the truth, you have to know the truth. WE ARE NOT EQUAL HERE. IF WE WERE, NEITHER GENDER, OR ANY GENDER IN BETWEEN WOULD FEEL OPPRESSED. Feminism is not burning bras. Feminism is not cutting off penises. Feminism is equality, because we don't have it. Feminism is education for everyone. Feminism is not having to be trapped in a house cooking all day. Feminism is women being able to have the same rights as men. we don't. we don't. any woman who is reading this right now has had an education. but so many others don't even know what that is.

please.

speak for those who are given no right to speak.

Feminists aren't men haters. Women who hate men for being born a different sex are sexist. Thank you so much for expressing that.

I really don't know why but poems like this piss me off and I'm a femsle

I assume this is for other countries? Because you live in America, stop talking about empowering women and empower yourself

I agree. The idea of empowering an entire gender is crap through and through; it makes them seem to be less than human - just kind of a mass that needs to be "empowered".

This is for other countries, and to educate people who think feminism is wanting to kill off every single male in existence.

Maybe I am empowered.

I love this so much because you go through the opposite ends of the possible spectrum and you tell why they are considered socially unacceptable (sorry, I feel like I could have worded that better), and going into the feminism aspects and how for some, it is considered socially unacceptable and such? Genius. And I completely understand what you mean by your description. Feminism isn't about being opposed to the opposite sex. That is not feminism. Feminism is seeing that the female race as a whole is not treated with enough respect and is often looked down on upon by men for such arbitrary reasons, and believing that it is not okay, believing that we are not all that different, that we are all human and that not everyone sees it that way. Oh, gods, sorry for that really long things, but this poem just evoked my thoughts on the topic, and I kind of just spilled. It happens. So yeah. But the poem is great!!

Wow, there's a whole shit-load of bias going on in this comment section. Humans are biased, but it hurts to see someone become defensive simply because they need to show how they can't be wrong.
Pain is everywhere on this Earth of ours, and it belongs here, but why tolerate such bigotry? And I commend you for saying something, RoseScarlet, but the words feel borrowed. They don't quite stab at and twist in my stomach like a samurai's suicide.

I live in America and I think America is equal in terms of race and gender but not equal in terms of social class although any one can achieve anything with a bit of luck.

I know some places in the world outside of the US and Canada are not equal, like the middle east and africa and women are still oppressed there.

I saw "cutting off penises" in the description and, well, I kind of got scared. But then I read the whole thing. So yeh. So many topics to debate on in the world that it's a bit overwhelming. I don't even know why I'm writing this. I don't know why I read this. I guess 'cause it was in the related section or whatever its called on DA. Thumbs. You're all incorrect. But it's okay because you're all correct. What matters is everything is too intricate now and the main thing we should ponder over is the reason for the creation of the universe. It wasn't created by God, it wasn't created by science. It was created by nothing because there was nothing, and if you can get somethging from nothing, you can get everything from anything. Did you know the ratio of many major rivers' lateral distance from point A to point B and their actual length is pi? Pretty neat. Gets you thinking. How long has the broccoli been there? Let's make a universe of infinite dimesnions instead of three. Goodbye *gives Nixon peace finger wave* I'm terribly sorry if you decided to read this entire post. I just wanted to see what brain juice looked like. Bee tee dubble dubs, I am Switzerland-neutral in everythang, since everything is nothing and anything and something.

This is quite funny; trippy. Please, don't take this as an insult or anything of that nature, (and I know I've already failed because I said that,) but were you high when you wrote this?
Paradoxes that broaden definitions are painful things to see, they seem to do the opposite of what contradictions are so useful for, narrowing what something complex is. But, the creation of the Universe is a difficult subject to even merely understand, as it's impossible. Think what you need to, I suppose.

despite this being from a female perspective i really could relate to many of the stanzas in my own view.  specifically the ones about "forgive me for loving a woman, for no matter who i love i will never be loved back," and "forgive me for being a feminist because i have no right to speak"
wether male or female when you speak of things that are controversial the masses generally try to silence you and if you're weaker those who are agressive and big try to use fear to intimidate.  so yeah, i could relate to a lot of this.

yeah, it is. it's very restrictive if you don't fit the norm of what they think you should be, male or female. the problem with equality is not so simple as making women equal to men but to stop trying to restrict any person into a preconceived mold. that is our biggest err as a species, to believe each sex and each person fits a generalized mold that does not exist. when we all have freedom to be truly us then we can say we are free and equal

I will tell you why society is geared towards men. Speaking on an average statistical value (which means don't call me out for that one guy you know who is an outlier), Men are more reasonable and tend not to lash out with emotion as often as women. Psycho-analytical studies have shown that men are generally more adept to algorithmically solve problems they encounter when the heuristic (which is reasonable or pre-conceived understanding) fails. Women who participated in the vast majority of these studies showed that there was a lacking in the area of algorithm in the cognitive process. Simply put, women get frustrated and conjure a mental block to reason very easily.

However, this only governs a small percentage of the education factor. Most women who are without schooling in first world countries (such as Canada and the U.S.) are there by personal immaturity. Women have a higher grade of sexual desire than men. This is socially suppressed by the female mind during their whole life, but is intensified during adolescence. This is the reason for pregnancies during school and the terminology of "slut" being associated with women. Again, not a very significant factor.

The most significant factor is personal opinion. Feminism is a synonym for fascism of women. Feminism is a mental bias suggesting an overcorrection should take place and have women on top of society. This is wrong. I am suggesting that it is your own opinion that you are oppressed. Take off the blinders and in you new-found peripherals you will see that no one is out to make sure you don't get an education. If you will notice, the rights that your government built for you far outweigh what anyone else can take away. It is your fault that you want to play victim to someone's "oppression". Society favors the resourceful. The government has many financial programs available to help you find an education. They will practically carry you through life and pretend you contributed.

I cannot speak for third-world countries, however. They have problems that are worthy of recognition. If you want to ask any questions about this comment or if you're wondering, "What is with this guy's disposition?" feel free to comment and I will gladly explain myself.

"Tend not to lash out with emotion"? Women get hormonal changes once a month, while men get them once a day, and it causes them to be more aggressive. Women actually have a slightly higher IQ than men.

I'm not a feminist for first world countries. The whiny girls who complain about the smallest things guys don't do don't need or deserve defense. I'm a feminist for developing countries where women are scared to go out of the house because they might get kidnapped anytime.

yeah, personal opinion. Imagine not being able to go to school. Imagine sneaking into your brother's schoolroom to listen to classes and doing his homework because that's how much you want to learn. Imagine being banned from the school, but it's too late already because you're married off at 11. Imagine having three children by 18, and being abused by your husband every day. Imagine the same person going to America, and getting PhDs, and divorcing, and remarrying.

this is real.

www.oprah.com/oprahshow/Terera…

first world countries are heaven, and society here is still bad. Imagine third world. There's a reason why it's called third world, you know.
